Synopsis: In 1953 the US Civil Defense conducted an experiment in coordination with the US military, which planned a nuclear bomb test. Homes were built, furnished, and populated with carefully dressed and staged mannequins to evaluate the bomb’s effects. I manipulated and colorized archival images of this test pre and post blast, and combined these with a live action tableaux. The effect has been called creepy, and I agree.
