FILMMAKER Q&A – Evgenia Taneva – Director

OR: What was the inspiration for your film?

ET: For me, the biggest inspiration is real life and more specifically the world inside of each onе of us. Our subconscious tells us our true feelings, desire and pain and that is what deeply inspires me.

OR: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?

ET: The idea came from the co-writer Victor Paskov and it took us more than a year to finally have the needed money for equipment to shoot it.

OR: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?

ET: The filmmaker must tell the story plausibly in a short time. To build the characters so that they are believable and to not take away the emotional charge of the film. No matter the length, the film should feel complete with a clear message and story.

OR: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?

ET: The biggest challenge we had to face is finding money for making the film. And we also had to shoot between quarantine time which added extra more difficulties, because of the restrictions we had to comply with.

OR: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?

ET: Keep going, each project is a lesson with which you grow.
