Title: OverAgain
Runtime: 4 min
Country: USA|Canada
Director: Marc Pannia
Placement: Award of Excellence
Synopsis: Sam circles back to memories as his relationship falls apart. While living in the past, will he miss what’s right in front of him?
OR: What was the inspiration for your film?
MP: My co-writer, Lilianna Wilde, is a songwriter and was going through a breakup where she felt like the entire city reminded her of it. She was having trouble fitting the concept into a song, so she brought the idea to me to develop as a short.
OR: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?
MP: Lilianna had the concept hidden away for a couple years, but when we decided to make it short instead of a song, we spent a spent a couple weeks fleshing out the idea and drafting OverAgain, over and over again. (Ha. Puns). Within a couple months the story was written, shot and edited.
OR: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?
MP: We were really lucky that OverAgain felt like it was meant to be a short, that the entire story didn’t need anymore time … it actually could have even been a shorter short.
OR: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?
MP: A lot of locations, a very short amount of time, and finding a way to get to all of them in Los Angeles traffic.
OR: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?
MP: Just go out and make a movie with whoever is willing to help. I’m a first-time filmmaker with OverAgain, so I found people who had done it before and recruited them to fill in what I didn’t know.
